Agbara1's Statement on the Osu Caste System in Irete Agubiam and Igboland

The Osu Caste System should not be tolerated because it constitutes invidious discrimination against a class of people, and such discrimination is based on an immutable characteristic of the members of that class.

It is per se illegal and ought to be repudiated and abolished where such abolition is not already law.  I understand that the Eastern House of Assembly abrogated the caste system as far back as the first Republic in the 1960s.  Additionally, the Osu caste system is inconsistent with the principles of Biafra.

Besides, it is hypocritical that the Igbo would complain about racism and marginalization only to turn around to sustain and practice discrimination in Igboland against fellow Igbo that they say come from a different caste. Kudos to Nde Irete for moving away from this discriminatory practice.
