In 1986, I had reason to incorporate Soyinka's book, "The Man Died," in my writing as a student in a course on Revolution and Rebellion.

It did not take long before I reached the conclusion that the Nobel Committee made a horrible mistake, as "The Man Died,"  the book for which Soyinka was awarded the 1986 Nobel Prize for Literature, fell below the standard of previous winners in both intellectual quality and in the stated non-intellectual values that the award is designed to foster. In particular, the ideal espoused in "The Man Died," though incoherent, does NOT run through Soyinka's other works.

Thus, I am glad that some people have now called for the recall of the wrongfully awarded prize for literature, which Soyinka was awarded in 1986 without recourse to merit.

Now that a Nigerian, Mahmoud Yakubu of INEC -Nigeria's "Independent" National Electoral Commission,  has made himself infamous for awarding certificates to candidates that did not win and who do not deserve the award, the ObIdient Movement, and, indeed, all Nigerians, should henceforth refer to Soyinka's 1886 award as the Mahmoud Yakubu Award for Literature.
